As an Alliance member, you will receive:

Members of the NSW Mine Workers Alliance are eligible to be a member of the MEU National Assistance Fund (NAF), which supports members and their families in financial need including industrial disputes. A small portion of the weekly dues collected is used to fund the NAF.
The NAF supports members through tough times in three main ways:
- Financial assistance to members when wages are lost in industrial disputes that are considered to be of national industry significance. This provides a financial safety net for members fighting to improve conditions, maintain entitlements and lift standards for mineworkers.
- A lump sum benefit (currently $200,000) to next of kin in the case of a death of a member at work (work-related).
- Assistance to members unable to work and without an income due to injury, wheretheir workers’ compensation claim is disputed by the employer or workers comp insurer.
Eligibility for NAF payments starts after three months of NAF membership. NAF assistance payments are subject to approval by NAF Trustees according to criteria determined by the MEU Central Council.
Alliance members pay $23 per week, which this goes straight into resources to support you at work. Your union fees are tax deductible.
If you are currently an MEU member or an AWU member, you can transfer your individual membership to an Alliance membership. An Alliance membership allows you to access the collective benefits of both unions.
